By offering curated recommendations, a modern and appealing UI for users under 35, user-friendly design to eliminate guesswork, and a randomizer feature to keep dates interesting plus reduce decision fatigue, DateNite lets users focus on enjoying their date instead of the logistics.

Young adults need a stress-free way to plan dates. With busy schedules and minds, planning can be overwhelming and pressure-filled. An app like DateNite simplifies the process by offering curated recommendations and easy planning tools, letting users focus on enjoying their date instead of the logistics.

Solution
Solution
To solve this problem,
We focused on making the design a more modern UI design to make it look more appealing to someone under the age of 35.
We also focused on making it user-friendly, so users did not need to guess and how to use the app.
Finally to address the overwhelming amount of suggestions, we added a new feature of randomizer to keep the dates interesting and lowering the need for users to lower the mount of decisions to make

How might we design an experience for young adults (ages 18-35) that captures the engaging and intuitive feel of social media apps like Instagram?

When we were first approached about the app's redesign, it was our first time working together on a project of this scale with multiple designers. Overcoming the challenge of merging our individual ideas and learning to collaborate effectively was a significant hurdle. We had to navigate differing design philosophies and find a unified vision. Despite these challenges, we able to put our differences aside and remind ourselves it wasn't about us but the user and the business.

Users would come to the app and drag out the two dice on the side. I wanted it to be noticeable but not in the way

Once they select their ideal date options, it would shuffle some options that fit within the chosen categories. I did not want to give them too many options, just some general options.

The app gives users the option to lock ideas they like and a reroll option to change to something else. Once the user likes the plan, they add it to their date plan and they’re all set!

We did not get the opportunity to do research on our own but we were told the target audience was young adults between the age of 18-35 and wanted to have the feel of social media apps like Instagram

What did I learn?
What did I learn?
This was all of our first time working with other designers. Main thing I learned, ALWAYS DO SOME FORM OF RESEARCH! The adjustments to be able to value others’ thoughts and opinions was definitely harder when no one had research to back up anything they were saying. It was hard but it was the learning experience I’m grateful for.
This taught me the importance of collaboration and open-mindedness. I learned to communicate effectively, compromise, and appreciate diverse perspectives. Working together improved our problem-solving skills and highlighted the value of constructive criticism. Overall, this experience enhanced my ability to work with a team
