From a young age, I've always loved being creating and making things but I hated arts and crafts. Haha, crazy right? Myspace was my jam! I loved editing my little profile and customizing my background. Tom was on to something. I was also obsessed with scrapbooking with my mom as a kid and loved creating presentations in high school for my aunt's grad school classes.( I got a lot of 100s for her and myself based on presentation alone.) From doing presentations and scrapbooking, I learned the value of purposeful decision-making and not just doing it because it was cute. From teaching, I became more empathetic to people's uniqueness and accessibility needs. I'm still learning but I believe this was the best change for me.
Before I became a designer, I spent 5+ years as a teacher.

As a 7th grade Writing & Social Emotional Learning teacher, I enjoyed identifying patterns where my students commonly struggled not only in their reading/writing skills but also their mindful skills (i.e social & self-awareness, conflict resolution, etc…). This helped improve how lessons were presented each year. Not one class, day or school year was the same.

I aimed to create a classroom community where students felt safe to make mistakes and ask questions. I loved teaching and seeing children enjoy learning but there was one day, in the middle of teaching a lesson, I looked down and saw a student using a ball pump to pump air into his nose because it felt nice and I knew right then children are hilarious but I wanted to do something different. Somewhere I could still be creative but challenge my brain with a puzzle to solve in a new way
